Andrews Sets School Record in 100-Meter Hurdles at MIT Last Chance Qualifier

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles on Thursday at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier.

Andrews posted a preliminary time of 14.27 seconds as she eclipsed her previous BSU mark of 14.28 seconds set earlier this month at the Division III New England Championships.

Andrews would go on to record a finals time of 14.37 seconds to place second in the event at the meet.

Junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 8.75 inches (13.02m).

Andrews and Gilbreath are both currently in position to compete at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will take place from Thursday, May 24th to Saturday, May 26th at Roger Harring Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The top 22 student-athletes in individual events qualify for the national championship meet.

Andrews is currently ranked sixth in the 100-meter hurdles and 12th in the 400-meter hurdles, while Gilbreath is 17th in the shot put.
