BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Sailor Nordstrom has been selected as the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Nordstrom went 3-0 in doubles competition and 1-1 in singles play in a 2-1 week for the Bears last week which included a 7-0 Little East win over Castleton University. In first doubles play, the New Bedford, Massachusetts product teamed with senior Emma Mills (Westport, Mass.) for an 8-6 win against Johnson & Wales, an 8-1 victory against Suffolk and an 8-0 triumph against Castleton. Nordstrom also posted a 6-4, 7-5 straight set decision at number one singles over her opponent from Suffolk, and led 6-4, 4-1 against her opponent from Castleton when the match was stopped due to rain.

Nordstrom is currently 2-2 (1-0 LEC) at top flight singles in her rookie campaign and 4-1 (2-0 LEC) at first doubles

The BSU women’s tennis team is presently 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Little East play. The Bears travel to Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon for a four o’clock non-conference match with the Hawks.
