Women's Swimming & Diving Takes 12 of 14 Events at Gordon College

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team competed against Gordon College in a non-scoring meet on Saturday afternoon at the Bennett Center.

The Bears placed first in twelve out of fourteen events including both relays.

The foursome of seniors Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.), Julia Gagne (South Hadley, Mass.), Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.) and Bridgette McGovern (Natick, Mass.) opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (2:03.20). To cap off the meet the foursome of senior Picabo Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.), senior Nicole Moneghan (Lincoln, R.I.), and freshmen Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass) and Allison Bergeron (South Hadley, Mass.) claimed victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:56.94).

Junior Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.) and sophomore Allison Hunt (Norton, Mass.) paced the Bears with two individual event wins apiece. Coogan placed first in the 50 freestyle (26.17) and 50 butterfly (29.48), while Hunt was the first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly (1:10.40) and the 50 backstroke (31.89).

Gagne, Nolan, Souza, and classmate Becca Foster (Billerica, Mass.), as well as freshmen Selin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) also captured top honors in individual events for the Bears. Gagne in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.94), Nolan in the 200 individual medley (1:08.76), Souza in the 100 freestyle (59.97), Foster in the 50 breaststroke (37.82), Marino in the 200 freestyle (2:17.84) and Paquin in the 100 backstroke (1:10.41).

After the Thanksgiving holiday break, the Bears will be hosting the Bridgewater Invitational on Saturday, December 1st at noon.
