Women's Soccer Falls to Keene State, 3-1

KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College women's soccer team scored three times in the second half to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit as the Owls posted a 3-1 victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Wednesday evening.

Jordyn Abasciano recorded a pair of goals and added an assist for the host Owls who improve to 4-9-1 on the season. The Bears fall to 6-5-2.

Taylor Loyd (Halifax, Mass.) opened the scoring for Bridgewater State in the 42nd minute as she headed home a cross from Amelia Burke (Plymouth, Mass.). The goal marked Loyd's fourth of the season. The Bears would take the 1-0 lead into the break.

Abasciano potted the equalizer in the 67th minute. Victoria Reynolds sent a through ball, splitting the BSU defense and freeing Abasciano who scored in the low corner.

Bridgewater State nearly regained the lead minutes later as Owl netminder Abbie Terrinca made four diving saves in a matter of 30 seconds.

Abasciano notched her second goal of the game, as she scored off the rebound of a Sarah Carron shot in the 75th minute.

The Bears nearly tied it in the 84th minute as a header attempt by Nicole Simas (Dartmouth, Mass.) hit the crossbar.

Keene State would add an insurance tally with just 34 seconds on the clock as Kaliana Palhof scored off the rebound of an Abasciano shot.

Terrinca recorded nine stops in the second half to record her second win of the season. Shelby Offord picked up a pair of saves in the opening 45 minutes.

Kellie Souza (Wilmington, Mass.) collected five saves for Bridgewater State.

The Bears outshot the Owls, 19-13, including a 6-0 advantage in the first half. Bridgewater State also finished with a 6-1 edge in corner kicks for the game.

Following tonight's game, the Owls improve their advantage in the all-time series, 19-1-1.

Both teams are home for conference games on Saturday afternoon. Keene State entertains Little East Conference foe Castleton University at one, while Bridgewater State entertains Mass. Maritime Academy at noon in a MASCAC matchup.
