CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 13th ranked MIT women's soccer team blanked visiting Bridgewater State University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium.

The Engineers improve to 3-1-1 on the season, while the Bears fall to 0-1-1. Today's match marked the first meeting between the two clubs since 2010. In the all-time series, MIT picked up its eighth win, but Bridgewater State still holds a 9-8-2 lead.

Junior midfielders Sophia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Emily Berzolla (Riverside, Conn.) each scored for MIT. Junior forward Montana Reilly (Los Angeles, Calif.) assisted on Stuckman's goal which came in the tenth minute, while Reilly and junior forward Chessa Hoekstra (Portland, Maine) picked up the assists on Berzolla's tally in the 85th minute.

MIT held a decided 34-3 shot advantage as well as a 13-1 edge in corner kick attempts. Half of the Engineers' 34 shots were either off frame or blocked.

BSU junior goalkeeper Kellie Souza (Wilmington, Mass.) made a career-best 15 saves between the pipes to keep the game close. Senior netminder Lily Mueller (Lakeville, Minn.) was forced to make just two saves to record her third win of the season.

Senior forward Taylor Loyd (Halifax, Mass.) recorded two of the Bears' three shots.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Rhode Island College on Tuesday evening for a six o'clock game with the Anchorwomen. The Engineers host Roger Williams University on Tuesday afternoon at four.
