Victoria McDonough Named MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University junior attack Victoria McDonough has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

A native of Marshfield, Massachusetts, McDonough tallied six goals and seven assists for 13 points to go along with five ground balls, 14 draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers in two games for the Bears last week at SpringFling 2019 in Englewood, Florida.

McDonough notched four goals and three assists as well as four ground balls, a career-high 12 draws, and a caused turnover in a 19-8 win over Eastern Connecticut State University. She also registered two goals, four assists, a ground ball, two draws and a caused turnover in a 10-9 setback to Nazareth College.

In the game against Nazareth, McDonough became the fifth student-athlete in BSU women's lacrosse history to reach the 100-assist milestone. She joined Shannon Manning '10 (156 assists), Paula Habel '03 (152), Riley Cachelin '15 (152) and Courtney Lennon '11 (111) as a member of the Bears' 100-assist club.

Through four games this season, McDonough has 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points to go along with nine ground balls, 22 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. She leads the MASCAC in assists and scoring, and ranks second in both goals and draws.

In 41 games over three seasons with the Bears, McDonough has amassed 88 goals and 103 assists for 191 points as well as 63 ground balls, 134 draw controls and 41 caused turnovers. She ranks fifth all-time at Bridgewater State in assists and ninth in draws.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is currently 3-1 on the season. The Bears travel to Wheaton College on Wednesday night for a seven o'clock game with the Lyons.
