BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The visiting Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team posted a 9-5 victory over Bridgewater State University in a non-conference affair on Tuesday afternoon at Swenson Field.

The Panthers improve to 3-3 on the season, while the host Bears fall to 6-2.

Senior attack Sam Fiore (Merrimac, Mass.) paced Plymouth State with four goals, while classmate Veronyca Daniels (Concord, N.H.) notched two goals and two assists. Fellow senior Sarah Thompson (Hooksett, N.H.) checked in with a goal and three helpers.

Senior midfielder Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Bridgewater State offense with three goals, all of which came in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.) contributed a goal and a pair of assists for the Bears.

Hiller scored off the free position 6:16 into the game to give Bridgewater State an early 1-0 lead. That, however, would be all the scoring for the Bears in the first half.

Thompson potted the equalizer for the Panthers off the free position at the 12:17 mark of the opening stanza. Plymouth State also received first half goals from Fiore and Daniels as the Panthers took a 3-1 lead into the break.

Plymouth scored the first six goals of the second half to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Fiore highlighted the run with three scoring strikes.

Back-to-back tallies by Ettridge closed the gap to 9-3. Junior attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.) then found the back of the net off a free position pass from freshman attack Madison Seeger (Clinton, Conn.) to pull the Bears to within five and force a Plymouth timeout with 6:44 left to play.

Ettridge notched her third goal of the second half at the 3:54 mark to make it a 9-5 game. The clock, however, would run out on the Bears' comeback bid as the Panthers hung on for the victory.

Plymouth State held a 28-20 shot advantage for the game, while Bridgewater State finished with a 10-7 edge in draw controls. BSU junior attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) and senior midfielder Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) corralled four draws apiece to lead all players.

Sophomore netminder Meaghan Allard (Mount Vernon, N.H.) turned aside nine shot to record her third win of the season between the pipes for the Panthers. Junior goalkeeper Hayler Barner (Westwood, Mass.) also made nine saves in the setback for the Bears.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears host Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rival Framingham State University at noon, while the Panthers travel to Rhode Island College for a one o'clock Little East Conference (LEC) game with the Anchorwomen.
