Seven Bears Earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Seven members of the 2019 Bridgewater State University softball team have been named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Grad student Jenny Heller (Taunton, Mass.), senior Natalie Sorrenti (Bridgewater, Mass.), juniors Krista Kennedy (Danvers, Mass.) and Alexandra Ruprecht (Kingston, Mass.), and sophomores Emma Healy (Plymouth, Mass.), Megan Sharon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Kelley Reichert (Milford, Mass.) each earned the honor for the Bears.

The Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete program recognizes the academic prowess of softball student-athletes across the Association’s membership categories. Over 8,000 student-athletes (8,161), a first in NFCA history, received the honor. NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the 2018-2019 academic year. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,769 and 1,306 honorees, respectively. High School weighted and High School unweighted earned a combined 2,018 distinctions. NAIA and two-year programs each amassed 570 recipients.
