BRIDGEWATER, Mass. –Bridgewater State University freshman Doug Alvarado has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

Alvarado placed tenth out of a field of 75 runners at the Seventh Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce University this past weekend at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds. The East Boston, Massachusetts native covered the eight-kilometer course in a season-best time of 27:20.6 as he helped the Bears place second at the six-team meet which featured four Division II schools

After a weekend off, members of the BSU Men’s cross country team will compete at the NEICAAA Championships held at Franklin Park or the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday, October 12th.
