Wysong Leads Men's Cross Country at Franklin Pierce

HOPKINTON, NH. -- Senior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) captured the meet title to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team on Saturday at the Seventh Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

Wysong won the meet with a time of 24:26.9 leading the field of 75 runners over the eight-kilometer course. The next closest finisher was Riley Fenoff of Franklin Pierce with a time of 25:41.4.

The Bears placed second in the team standings trailing only host Franklin Pierce. Bridgewater State was the only Division III program competing at the six-team meet which featured four Division II schools.

The next Bear to cross the line was junior Nikolas Beshere (Winthrop, Mass.) who placed sixth with a time of 26:59.7. Right behind Beshere, senior Mike Hutchinson (Leominster, Mass.) and junior Lukas Moscoso (Whitman, Mass.) finished in seventh and eighth place, respectively, with times of 27:18.5 and 27:18.9.

Rounding out the Bears' top 15 finishers were freshman Doug Alvarado (East Boston, Mass) and senior Joseph Celia (Bridgewater, Mass.), Alvarado ran a time of 27:20.6, which was good enough for tenth place, while Celia completed the course in a time 27:41.1 to finish 14th.

Following an off weekend, the Bears will compete at the Westfield State 24th Annual James Earley Invitational on Saturday, October 12th.
