Men's Cross Country Places 2nd at Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team placed second at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner at the meet as he covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:48. Wysong finished fifth out of a field of 134 harriers.

Sophomore Blake Evertsen of Division I Harvard University won the meet with a time of 25:17.

Bridgewater State also had four other runners place in the top 20. Senior Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) was the next Bear across the finish line as he checked in with a time of 26:25. Keough was followed by junior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) in ninth place (26:44), junior Mike Hutchinson (Leominster, Mass.) in 17th place (27:54) and sophomore Nikolas Beshere (Winthrop, Mass.) in 19th place (28:13).

Harvard finished first in the team standings followed by Bridgewater State and Wheaton College.

Following an off weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by MCLA on Saturday, October 27th.
