Zingarelli Sets Pole Vault Mark at Joe Donahue Games

ROXBURY, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Joe Donahue Games hosted by Northeastern University on Saturday evening at the Reggie Lewis Center. The meet featured teams from all three NCAA divisions.

Junior Joseph Zingarelli (North Kingston, R.I.) once again broke the school record in the pole vault. Zingarelli placed 11th out of 25 jumpers posting a height of 13 feet 11.25 inches (4.25m) besting his previous mark of 13 feet 7.25 inches (4.15m) set just last week.

Senior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) took the Bears lone win on the evening as he placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.32. Higgins qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event.

Senior Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) placed second in the weight throw with a DIII New Englands qualifying mark of 54 feet, 10.25 inches (16.72m).

Freshman Exondus Barnes (East Providence, R.I.) qualified for DIII New Englands in the long jump placing fifth (tied) at the meet with a leap of 22 feet 0.75 inches (6.72m). Barnes also tied for seventh in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet 0.75 inches (1.85m).

Senior Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) qualified for DIII New Englands in the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 0.75 inches (13.43m). Ndikumana placed sixth in the event at the meet.

Freshman Dimetri Morris (North Andover, Mass.) placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles tying his previous best time of 8.58 seconds.

Sophomore Jadin Bruneau (Taunton, Mass.) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash running a personal best time of 22.51 seconds. He also placed 18th in the 60-meter dash (7.20).

The Bears 4x400-meter relay squad also posted a strong showing placing fifth with a time of 3:25.00. The relay team consisted of Higgins, senior Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.), junior John Lara (South Boston, Mass.), and freshman Joseph Madden Jr. (Milford, Mass.).

Haynes and Lara also finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Haynes posted a time of 51.08 seconds, while Lara checked in at 52.06 seconds.

The BSU track & field teams are off until after the New Year when the Bears compete at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, January 18th.
