Jacob DeAndrade Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Jacob DeAndrade has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC Weekly awards program.

DeAndrade earned All-New England honors in the 100-meter dash at the Division III New England Championships this past weekend out at Williams College. The Taunton, Massachusetts product posted a career-best time of 10.77 seconds to place fourth in the finals of the 100. He also ran a leg on the Bears’ All-England 4x100-meter relay team which finished fourth with a time of 42.26 seconds.

DeAndrade currently ranks sixth among Division III New England student-athletes in the 100-meter dash and 11th in the 200-meter dash. He is also 49th in all of Division III in the 100.

During the winter indoor season, DeAndrade was named the MASCAC Track & Field Rookie of the Week an impressive seven times. He also garnered Division III All-England accolades in both the 200 and 60-meter dash, and was an All-NEICAAA selection in the 60.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will compete at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
