Men's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Campaign at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team opened the 2018 campaign on Saturday at the non-scoring Tufts Snowflake Classic held at the Dussault Track & Field Complex.

Senior Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) captured top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 2.25 inches (14.38m), while sophomore Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) was the first runner to cross the finish line in the 10,000-meter run. Wysong posted a time of 31:32.06.

Freshman Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) had an impressive collegiate outdoor debut as he placed first in the javelin with a toss of 179 feet, nine inches (54.80m).

Senior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (56.16), while senior Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) finished third in the shot put (45'9.75"/13.96m).

Senior Joseph Kisamore (Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomores Ryan Bain (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) all placed fourth in their respective events. Kisamore in the 1,500-meter run (4:04.95), Bain in the javelin (170'4"/51.92m) and Johnson in the discus throw (136'2"/41.50m).

The Bears 4x100-meter relay squad featuring junior Alex Goss (North Dighton, Mass.), sophomore Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.), Kotleski and sophomore Tyler O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) finished fifth in the event with a time of 44.09 seconds.

Sophomore Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Haynes finished seventh (50.82) and eighth (50.95), respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Rounding out the Bears' top ten performers were senior Austin James (Mansfield, Mass.) in the shot put (7th, 42'2"/12.85m), freshman Spencer Geary (Marlborough, Mass.) in the pole vault (8th, 11'11.75"/3.65m), junior Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) in the discus (9th, 123'0"/37.49m), sophomore Mike Hutchinson (Leominster, Mass.) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9th, 10:43.74), and Haynes in the 200-meter dash (10th, 22.67).

Williamson, Wysong, Moore, Kotleski, Hollowell, Bain, Johnson, Higgins and Haynes (twice) all qualified for the DIvision III New England Championships in their respective events. Senior Colin Knapton (Mattapoisett, Mass.), who finished 16th in the 200-meter dash (22.94), also qualified for DIII New Englands.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete in the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
