Men's Tennis Downs Castleton, 6-3, in Regular Season Finale

CASTLETON, Vt. – The visiting Bridgewater State University men's tennis team wrapped up regular season play with a 6-3 Little East Conference (LEC) victory over Castleton University on Saturday afternoon at the Castleton Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Bears secured a spot in next week's Little East Tournament as they improve to 3-9 on the season and 2-5 in the LEC. Bridgewater is seeded #6 and will travel to #3 Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon for a first round game with the Anchormen. Match time has yet to be determined. The host Spartans end the season with an overall record of 2-11 including an 0-7 mark in conference play.

Bridgewater captured two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles flights.

In doubles play, sophomore William Jones (Wrexham, U.K.) and junior Joshua Bean (Kingston, Mass.) paired up for an 8-0 win at the second flight, while freshman Kendan DeBlois (Hadley, N.Y.) and senior Stephen Reddington (West Bridgewater, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-3 decision at number three.

Jones (6-1, 6-4), DeBlois (7-5, 6-2) and Bean (6-2, 6-1) also posted straight set wins in singles play at the second, third and fourth flights, respectively. DeBlois is now 11-1 on the season in singles competition. Senior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) added 6-0, 6-1 straight set victory for the Bears at number five.
