Kessy Alves Named to United Soccer Coaches All-New England Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior forward Kessy Alves has been named as a third team selection on the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-New England Team.

Alves is the Bears' first All-New England selection since Conor Murtagh garnered first team honors in 2015.

In 19 games this season, all starts, Alves notched a team-high nine goals to go along with nine assists for a team-best 27 points. The Praia, Cape Verde and Brockton (Mass.) High School product tied for second in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in assists and ranked third in both goals and scoring. He also tied for fifth in the conference in game-winning goals (2).

An All-MASCAC First Team honoree, Alves helped the BSU men's soccer team (11-8-1, 5-2 MASCAC) capture the MASCAC Tournament title as he recorded a hat trick in the Bears' 5-3 championship game victory over Framingham State University. For his outstanding performance, Alves was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the sixth time in program history as they dropped a tough 1-0 decision to nationally ranked Amherst College in the opening round.

In 37 games over two seasons at Bridgewater State, Alves produced 13 goals and 11 assists for 37 points.
