Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision to Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to host Roger Williams University on Wednesday night at Bayside Field.

The unbeaten Hawks improve to 12-0 on the season, while the visiting Bears fall to 5-5. Roger Williams entered the game ranked fourth in New England. The Hawks also received votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Poll.

Stahi Panagiotidis (Norwalk, Conn.) and Steven Karp (Morganville, N.J.) both scored for Roger Williams with Ryan Miller (Hillsdale, N.J.) and Jake Fitting (Bristol, R.I.) tallying two assists apiece.

Panagiotidis opened the scoring in the 33rd minute of play with his fifth goal of the season. Karp potted his first collegiate marker in the 69th minute.

Shots were fairly even with the Hawks holding a slight 15-14 edge. Roger Williams also finished with a 6-1 advantage in corner kick attempts with five of them coming in the second half.

RWU netminder James Lee (Sudbury, Mass.) made eight saves to record his fifth win and third shutout of the season. Bridgewater State's Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) turned aside two shots in the setback.

The Hawks travel to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon for a five o'clock Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup with the Gulls. The Bears head to Worcester State University on Friday evening to take on the Lancers at seven in a battle of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rivals.
