Admar Jaramillo Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of The Year

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Admar Jaramillo has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Rookie of The Year.

A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, Jaramillo averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals while shooting 78% (39-50) at the free throw line. He appeared in 25 games for the Bears in his rookie campaign and started 14 of the last 15. Jaramillo also finished in double figure scoring in nine games this season including a career-high 19 points against Framingham State on February 19th in which he also recorded a career-best ten steals.

Jaramillo currently ranks first in the MASCAC in steals and is fourth in assists. He is also 12th in all of Division III in steals. 

Admar was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week six time this season, including four straight accolades from January 21st to February 11th. 

Jaramillo is the Bears' first MASCAC Rookie of The Year since Judah Jackson in 2008, and just the third in program history. Tom Cuddihy also earned the honor in 2005.

The BSU men's basketball team closed out the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 9-18 and went 6-6 in conference play. Seeded fourth in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears knocked off the fifth-seeded Rams, 101-84, in the quarterfinal round before dropping an 93-80 decision to the top-seeded Vikings in the semifinals.
