Admar Jaramillo Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Admar Jaramillo has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Jaramillo averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, five assists and five steals while shooting 50% (11-22) from the floor in a 1-1 week for the Bears. The Brockton, Massachusetts native notched 16 points, two rebounds, five assists, a blocked shot and a career-high seven steals in an 87-80 overtime win over MASCAC foe Framingham State. He also tallied nine points, five assists, three boards and three steals in a 108-97 conference setback to Salem State.

In 20 games this season, Jaramillo is averaging 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.3 steals in 21.9 minutes per game while shooting 76% (32-42) at the free throw line. He ranks third in the MASCAC in steals and seventh in assists.

The BSU men's basketball team is currently 7-15 on season and 5-5 in the MASCAC standings (4th place). The Bears travel to Newbury College tonight for a seven o'clock non-conference game with the Nighthawks before continuing MASCAC play at Worcester State on Wednesday evening at 5:30.
