BOSTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's basketball team advanced to the championship game of the 33rd Annual Harbor Invitational as the Bears edged Emerson College, 74-67, in overtime on Friday night at the Clark Athletic Center.

The Bears (3-2) will take on host UMass Boston in the tournament title game on Saturday afternoon at three. The Lions (2-1) will face Fisher College in the consolation game at one. UMass defeated Fisher, 61-57, in the other semifinal round matchup earlier this evening.

Senior forward Joseph Carty (Natick, Mass.) posted a double-double with game-high totals of 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead the way for Bridgewater State. Carty connected on 8 of 18 field goal attempts and went 7-for-8 at the free throw line. Eight of his 18 rebounds came off the offensive glass and he also added three assists. Carty's 24 points equaled his career-high.

Sophomore forward Rayshon Ward (Plymouth, Mass.) added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Bears, while senior guard Rocky DeAndrade (Mansfield, Mass.) checked in with 11 points and four boards.

Bridgewater State outscored Emerson 11-4 in the overtime period. After senior guard Michael Sheng (Altadena, Calif.) tied the game up at 67-67 on a layup with 3:10 remaining, the Lions did not score again. A pair of free throws by Ward put the Bears up for good, 69-67, with 2:17 left to play. Bridgewater went 5-for-6 at the free throw line over the final 90 seconds to secure the win. Carty (six points) and Ward (five points) combined for all 11 of the Bears' overtime points.

Junior guard Geoffrey Gray (Newton, Mass.) paced the Lions with 21 points and ten rebounds as he recorded the double-double. Gray also notched five assists. Sophomore guard Jack O'Connor (Newport, R.I.) contributed 15 points, three rebounds and three assists for Emerson, while Sheng chipped in ten points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Emerson senior forward Corey Fitz (Los Altos, Calif.) dropped in a layup with 1:21 remaining in regulation to knot the score at 63-63 and ultimately send the game into overtime. There were four possessions following Fitz's game-tying layup, but neither team was able to score.

Bridgewater shot 41% (25-61) for the game, including 5-for-26 (19%) from three-point range. The Bears also converted 19 of 26 (73%) free throw attempts.

The Lions connected on 37% (27-74) of their field goal attempts and went 9-for-30 (30%) from behind the arc. Emerson made just six trips (4-for-6) to the free throw line.
