BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Fifteen Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Fall 2018 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team which was announced today.

The 15 BSU student-athletes include eight field hockey players and seven representatives from the women's tennis team.

To earn a spot on the all-academic team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher, be a full-time member of a varsity team and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are seniors Allison Chappell (Raynham, Mass.), Samantha Hayes (Norwood, Mass.), Julianne Kilduff (Bellingham, Mass.) and Alexandra Zoebisch (Plymouth, Mass.); juniors Megan Bell (Littleton, Mass.) and Jacquelyn Legendre (Westport, Mass.); and sophomores Kim Kowalick (Groveland, Mass.) and Meghan Welch (Hubbardston, Mass.). Representing the women’s tennis team are senior Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.); junior Angelique Gray (Osterville, Mass.); and sophomores Madison Butkus (Attleboro, Mass.), Kelly Gately (Taunton, Mass.), Jessica Gaudreau (Hanson, Mass.), Michaela Loring (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.).

The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), three BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, and men’s tennis in the spring.
