Women's Cross Country Places Second at MASCAC Championships

PAXTON, Mass. -- Senior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed second out of a field of 77 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Moore State Park in Paxton.

Madden covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:23  to garner All-MASCAC honors.

Sophomores Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Katherine Vogel (Pawling, NY) also earned all-conference accolades for the Bears. Dunn placed fifth overall with a time of 19:56 and Vogel placed seventh with a time of 20:43.

Second-year head coach Connor Foley was voted by his peers at the meet as the Champions Choice Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Westfield State University (34 pts.) captured the team championship followed by Bridgewater State (51 pts.) in second place and Worcester State University (64 pts.) in third.

Freshman Grace Phair of Westfield State won the individual title with a time of 19:10.

Following an off weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday, November 16th.
