Women's Cross Country Places Fourth at Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country placed fourth at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner at the meet as she covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:40. Madden finished seventh out of a field of 198 runners.

Hanna Rieders from Mount Holyoke College won the meet with a time of 21:56.

Next across the line for Bridgewater was sophomore Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) in 15th place as she finished with a time of 23:19. Dunn was followed closely by fellow sophomore Katherine Vogel (Pawling, NY.) in 18th place with a time of 23:32. Rounding out the Bears' top-five finishers were sophomore Megan Leary (North Attleboro, Mass.) in 29th (24:16) and freshman Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) in 59th (25:30).

Capturing the team title was Mount Holyoke followed by the University of New England and Wheaton College.

Following an off weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by Worcester State on Saturday, October 27th.
