Women's Cross Country Places 8th at Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team placed eighth at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner at the meet as she covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:54. Madden finished fourth out of a field of 122 harriers.

Senior Kathryn Gillespie of Division I Harvard University won the meet with a time of 21:24.

Senior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) was the next Bear across the finish line as she placed 29th overall with a time of 24:38. Senior Haley Piotrowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.) checked in with a time of 26:22 and she finished 50th at the meet.

Harvard placed first in the team standings followed by the University of New England and Eastern Connecticut State University.

Following an off weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by MCLA on Saturday, October 27th.
