Women's Cross Country Places 11th at 49th Annual Codfish Bowl

DORCHESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed 45th out of a field of 184 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the 49th Annual Codfish Bowl held at Franklin Park.

Madden covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 21:12. Jesse Cardin of Westfield State University won the race with a time of 19:00.

Junior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as she placed 53rd overall with a time of 21:28.  Guyon was followed by senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) in 54th place (21:29).

The Bears finished 11th in the team standings. Division II Stonehill College captured the team title while Westfield State placed second and Division II Merrimack College finished third.

After a week off, members of the BSU cross country teams will compete at either the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University or the NEICAAA Championship held at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 7th.
