Women's Cross Country Places Fourth at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team placed fourth at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational held on Saturday at Colt State Park.

Sophomore Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner as she covered the two-mile course in a time of 12:51. Madden finished eighth out of a field of 95 runners.

Junior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as she placed 12th with a time of 13:03.

Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top 20 performers as she finished 19th overall with a time of 13:15.

Sophomore Emily Manfra of Suffolk University captured the individual title with a time of 12:38.

Salve Regina University won the team championship with 70 points. The Seahawks were followed by host Roger Williams (75 pts.), Simmons College (88 pts.) and Bridgewater State (114 pts.) in the standings.

After a weekend off, the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 16th.
