Women's Cross Country Competes at New England Regionals

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Williams College on Saturday at the Mount Greylock High School course.

The Bears placed 26th overall in the team standings.

Senior Krysta Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) was the Bears top harrier at the meet as she covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 24:21.6 to finish 108th overall.  BSU grad student Jacey Peers (Elmsford, N.Y.) recorded a time of 25:05.7 (155th place), while freshman Ann Pollock (Peabody, Mass.) crossed the line in 25:19.7 (174th place) to round out BSU's op three runners.

Sophomore Sarah Quinn of MIT won the individual championship with a time of 21:39.9.

MIT captured the team title while Middlebury College, Williams College, Amherst College, Wellesley College and Tufts University rounded out the top six.  MIT and Middlebury automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship.

Williams, Amherst, Wellesley and and Tufts are among those that will be competing for at large bids to the NCAA Division III Championships.  In total, 16 teams nationwide will qualify at the discretion of the USTFCCCA selection committee.  As of 2013, there is no limit on how many teams from one region may qualify for the NCAA Championship.
