Women's Cross Country Places Second at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team placed second at the Roger Williams Invitational held on Saturday at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Freshman Shauntel Farland (Burlington, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner as she covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 20:59.69.  Farland, making her BSU debut, finished fourth out of a field of 109 harriers.

Grad student Jacey Peers (Andover, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears as she posted a time of 21:37.48 to place eighth overall.

Junior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) finished 23rd (21:59.14), while freshman Ann Pollock (Peabody, Mass.) followed in the 16th spot (22:03.77).  Junior Samantha Pinkham (Hingham, Mass.) came home 19th (22:07.76) and classmates Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished 33rd (23:05.40) and 35th (23:08.33), respectively.

After a weekend off, the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 20th.
