Volleyball Reports for Preseason Camp

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team began preparation for the 2018 season as over 20 student-athletes reported to preseason camp on Wednesday morning and hit the court for the first time later in the afternoon.

First-year head coach Richie Gomes' squad opens the 2018 campaign on Tuesday, September 4th when the Bears travel to Elms College for a seven o'clock match with the Blazers. Following a September 8th noontime home contest versus Rhode Island College, the Bears open Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play against Fitchburg State University on Tuesday, September 11th (6:00 PM) at the Tinsley Center. 

Bridgewater State is ranked fourth in the MASCAC Volleyball Preseason Poll which was released today. The Bears tallied 29 points in the poll as they finished behind preseason favorite Worcester State University (48 pts.) as well as Framingham State University (42 pts.) and Westfield State University (39 pts.). Worcester picked up six of the eight first place votes while Framingham grabbed the other two.
