Volleyball Drops a Pair of Matches to RIC, Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a tri-match hosted by Clark University on Saturday.

The Bears dropped a tough 3-2 (22-25, 25-12, 20-25, 25-18, 15-10) decision to Rhode Island College, and suffered a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-20) setback to the host Cougars.

Senior outside hitter Kayla Baril (Seekonk, Mass.) finished with18 kills, 16 digs and three aces in the two matches, while junior middle hitter Erin Clifford (Hanson, Mass.) notched 17 kills and four assisted blocks. Sophomore setter Casey Holmes (Norton, Mass.) recorded 34 assists on the day, while senior setter Picabo Miskiv (Barnstable, Mass.) dished out 26 assists in the loss to RIC.

Senior libero Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered 30 digs, including 25 against RIC. Tyros also added five aces and a pair of kills.

With her 30 digs, Tyros increased her career total to 1,427 as she moved passed Kristen Robillard (2011-13) into third place on the Bears' all-time list.

Senior outside hitter Grace Stafford (Yarmouth, Mass.) checked in with 13 kills to go along wiith 21 digs. Stafford had ten kills and 17 digs in the match against the Anchorwomen.

Bridgewater State posted a .063 hitting percentage with 11 aces and 11 serving errors in the loss to RIC. The Anchorwomen recorded a .146 hitting percentage with 11 aces and 12 serving errors.

The Bears finished with a .169 hitting percentage with two aces and five serving errors in the setback to Clark. The Cougars notched a .310 hitting percentage with 12 aces and just three serving errors.

In upcoming action, the Bears host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at six.
