Volleyball Posts 3-1 Win over Curry at HOF Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over Curry College at the Hall of Fame Invitational hosted by Smith College on Friday evening.

The Bears improve to 5-18 on the season as the snapped a seven-match losing streak. The Colonels fall to 11-12 with the setback.

The Bears had their best attacking day of the season as the team recorded a .301 hitting percentage.

Junior outside hitter Kayla Baril (Seekonk, Mass.) notched a match-best 13 kills and registered a .481 hitting percentage to go along with an ace, an assisted block and five digs. Junior setter Picabo Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) dished out 39 assists and contributed four kills and an ace.

Freshman outside hitter Alexis Duarte (Fairhaven, Mass.) added nine kills and a .450 hitting percentage as well as three assisted blocks for Bridgewater, while sophomore middle blocker Sarah Gibbons (Quincy, Mass.) tacked on seven kills, and freshman middle hitter Sydney Rice (Medway, Mass.) checked in with six kills and five blocks (one solo).

Junior libero Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected a team-best 16 digs, and Miskiv and Kelley tallied 14 and 13 digs, respectively, for the Bears who finished with 63 digs in the match.

The Hall of Fame Invitational will continue for Bridgewater State on Saturday as the Bears will take on Worcester State University at 11:00 AM and Colby College at 1:00 PM.
