Volleyball Falls to Keene State, 3-0, at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-15, 25-10, 25-20) to Keene State College in the season opener for both teams on Friday evening at the Roger Williams Invitational.

The Owls improve to 1-0 while the Bears fall to 0-1.

Keene State received 13 kills from senior outside hitter Rachel Lamica (Malone, N.Y.) and five service aces from junior libero Riley Bunker (Simi Valley, Calif.).  Freshman setter Bailey Wilson (Moorpark, Calif.) dished out 24 assists in her first collegiate match.

Junior outside hitter Kayla Baril (Seekonk, Mass.) notched eight kills in her BSU debut, while junior outside hitter Alyssa Kelley (Mansfield, Mass.) also recorded eight kills. Junior setter Elizabeth Roberts (Swnasea, Mass.) registered ten assists to go along with a pair of assisted blocks. Junior setter Elexi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.)  contributed nine assists and junior libero Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) tallied nine digs and an ace.

The tournament continues on Saturday, September 2nd. Keene State will play Framingham State University at 11 a.m. and Emerson College at 3 p.m., whiile Bridgewater State takes on Colby-Sawyer College at 11 am. and host Roger Williams at 1 p.m.
