Erin Clifford Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore middle blocker Erin Clifford has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Clifford averaged 9.4 kills and two blocks with a .287 hitting percentage in a 3-2 week for the Bears. The Hanson, Massachusetts product tallied 14 kills and a solo block in a 3-0 MASCAC win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy. She also amassed 33 kills, eight digs and nine blocks (four solo) in four matches at the Hall of Fame Invitational.

In 26 matches this season, Clifford has produced 205 kills and a team-leading .271 hitting percentage to go along with ten aces, 30 digs and 42 blocks. She ranks second in the MASCAC in hitting percentage, sixth in kills and seventh in blocks. She is also tied for third among the conference leaders with 21 solo blocks.

The BSU volleyball team is currently 10-16 on the season and tied for third place in the MASCAC standings with a 3-2 conference mark. The Bears travel to Lasell College on Tuesday night for a for a seven o'clock non-conference match with the Lasers.
