Christina Jaros Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Jaros notched 14 kills and six blocks (three solo) in a pair of matches for the Bears last week.

Jaros tallied nine kills, four digs, an ace and a solo block in a 3-0 MASCAC win over Salem State University.  She also added five kills and five blocks (three solo) in a 3-0 non-conference victory over Mount Ida College.

Through 17 matches this season, Jaros has amassed 78 kills, 16 digs and 33 blocks (14 solo). She leads the MASCAC in assisted blocks (19) and ranks second in the conference in total blocks, third in solo blocks and 13th in kills.

The BSU volleyball team returns to the court on Wednesday evening as the Bears travel to Buzzards Bay to take on MASCAC foe Massachusetts Maritime Academy at seven.
