Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches at Wheaton Tri-Match

NORTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a tri-match hosted by Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon.

Bridgewater fell to host Wheaton, 3-1 (25-14, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18), and Western Connecticut State University, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-22). The Bears slip to 14-15 on the season with the pair of setbacks.

Senior setter Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) paced the Bears with 24 assists, 12 digs and two assisted blocks in the loss to the host Lyons. Sophomore outside hitter Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.) added eight kills and an assisted block, while classmate Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I) chipped in with seven kills, eight digs and an assisted block.

Mullarkey finished with 23 assists and 15 digs against Western Connecticut, while Goncalves notched eight kills and Maymon recorded five kills, 13 digs, a pair of aces and a solo block. Senior right side hitter Stephanie Tuepker (Marstons Mills, Mass.), who joined the team earlier this week, added seven kill and three assisted blocks while registering a .429 hitting percentage. Freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros (Plymouth, Mass.) added six kills and three assisted blocks.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Worcester State University for a seven o'clock MASCAC match with the Lancers.
