BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University cross country and track & field student-athletes and coaching staffs helped host the Bridgewater Kids Road Race on Sunday, October 6th on the BSU campus.

After a three year hiatus, the one-mile race, open to Bridgewater children in grades K-8, returned to the Bridgewater State University campus. The race, which is organized by retired BSU professor Sam Baumgartner, was a fixture in the town from 1980 through 2015, a 36 consecutive year run.

The 37th edition was conducted under the aegis of the Bridgewater State track & field and cross country teams, with support from Northeast Race Management, Colonial Road Runners and the Bridgewater Police Foundation.

Seventy-three runners finished the race which started in front of Burnell Hall, went up Burrill Avenue, around Shea-Durgin Hall, and back to Burnell.

The BSU track & field and cross country teams provided the volunteer support for the event as the student-athletes and coaching staffs helped with set-up, registration, directing the runners, and clean-up. Head Coach Connor Foley also assisted Professor Baumgartner with the organization of the event.
