Amanda Ward Named MASAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Amanda Ward has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC Weekly awards program.

Ward posted a time of 1:58.18 in the 600-meter run at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University this past weekend. The Manahawkin, New Jersey native placed 21st out of a field of 29 student-athletes in the event and was the top BSU runner.

The BSU women's indoor track & field team has earned four MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards this indoor season. Freshman Camille Hanna (Milton, Vt.)  garnered the honor on December 3rd and again on January 14th, while classmate Magdala Richards (Westford, Ma.) received the award on December 10th.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the NEICAAA Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.
