BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the seventh time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kira Gilbreath has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. GEICO is a proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

The MASCAC weekly accolade marks the 15th of Gilbreath’s outstanding career including eight outdoor distinctions.

Gilbreath placed 18th in the shot put last week at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, The West Haven, Utah native posted a mark of 42 feet, 5.25 inches (12.93m) as she was just one of three student-athletes from the New England region competing in the event.

This marked the second straight year that Gilbreath competed at the national championship meet as finished 22nd in the shot put (40'4.25"/12.30m) at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Gilbreath holds the BSU outdoor record in the shot put with a distance of 44 feet, 10.25 inches (13.67m) which she set last year at the MASCAC Championships.
