Connor Foley Named Head Coach for Men's & Women's Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field Programs

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University Director of Athletics, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, announced today that Connor Foley ‘15 has been named the full-time head coach for the Bears’ men’s and women’s cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs.

Connor, who hails from Foxborough, Massachusetts, is a 2015 graduate of Bridgewater State where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Following graduation, Connor served two years as a graduate assistant for compliance and operations at Franklin Pierce University as well as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree in Sports Management from Franklin Pierce in 2017.

Connor returned to his alma mater in 2017 as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track & field teams as he worked with the hurdlers and high jumpers. Last season, student-athletes under his guidance recorded 13 Division III New England Championship qualifying marks, four NEICAAA Championship qualifying marks and three NCAA Division III Championship qualifying marks, while junior Jayci Andrews placed second in the 100-meter hurdles to garner All-American honors at the NCAA outdoor championships.

“Connor Foley is an outstanding addition to our head coaching staff here at BSU,” said Lamb. “As a former student-athlete who excelled at his sport, and a valued former assistant coach, I believe that Connor has what it needs to continue to develop outstanding student-athletes for the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs.”

“We are very fortunate that Connor had an outstanding mentor in his predecessor, TJ Smith,” Lamb added. “Throughout this search, we were looking for a coach that will make an immediate impact as part of the full-time staff here at the university.”

During his undergraduate career at BSU, Connor was a four-year member of the Bears’ men’s track & field teams. He captained both the indoor and outdoor squads during his junior and senior seasons. A distance runner, Connor captured the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) title in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the league's outdoor championships as a senior, before running his career-best time in the event at the New England Championships. His work during the 2015 outdoor season helped the BSU men's track & field team earn their third straight New England Alliance crown. Connor capped off his career by being selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Third Team.

In the classroom, Connor was named to the MASCAC All-Academic Team as well as the Bridgewater State Dean's List in each of his eight semesters on campus. At the conclusion of his senior year, he was honored with the BSU Athletics Student Leadership Award.
