Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Andrews captured top honors in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles this past weekend at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native posted season-best times of 14.52 seconds in the 100 hurdles and 1:03.18 in the 400 hurdles.

Andrews currently ranks ninth in all of Division III in the 100 hurdles and 13th in the 400 hurdles.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 29th of Andrews' career including ten outdoor distinctions.

Andrews currently holds nine individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.68), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.14), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37), 400-meter dash (55.76) and long jump (17'8.75").

Last month, Andrews became the second NCAA national champion in Bridgewater State history as she captured the national title in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2019 Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center. Andrews also garnered All-American accolades last spring with a second place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The 2019 outdoor season continues for the BSU women's track & field team on Friday as the Bears compete at the 12th Annual Eastern Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University.
