Andrews Breaks Hurdles Mark, Garners All-NEICAAA Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday during the second and final day of the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

Andrews posted a finals time of 13.86 seconds in the 100 hurdles as she placed fourth in the event to garner All-NEICAAA honors. Andrews, who was the only Division III student-athlete competing in the finals, eclipsed her previous BSU mark of 14.02 seconds set last weekend at the Division III New England Championships.

Andrews currently ranks first in all of Division III in the 100 hurdles.

Senior Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) finished 17th in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 8.5 inches (10.88m).

Andrews and McNamara each ran a leg on the Bears' 4x100-meter relay along with classmate Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and junior Jessica Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 49.69 seconds to places 14th in the event.

In upcoming action, select members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete on Thursday at the MIT Final Qualifier.
