Women's Track & Field Competes at 12th Annual Eastern Invitational

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field competed on Friday afternoon at the 12th Annual Eastern Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University.

The Bears finished second in the team standings with 148 points. Hosted Eastern won the meet with 201 points, while Regis College rounded out the top three with 122 points.

Senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.92 seconds. Andrews also ran a leg on the Bears' 4x100-meter relay squad along with classmates Madeline McNamara (Hulls, Mass.) and Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.), and junior Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.). The foursome posted a first-place time of 50.76 seconds.

Andrews qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the both the 200-meter dash and the 100-meter dash. She finished fourth at the meet in the 100 with a career-best time of 12.55 seconds.

Madeline McNamara also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet (10.36m).

Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) was the first runner to cross the finish line in the 1,500 meter run as she recorded a time of 5:05.35. Madden, fellow juniors Jessica Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.), and freshman Amanda Ward (Manahawkin, N.J.) teamed up for a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay as they posted a time of 4:34.51.

Haywood also checked in second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.63.

Junior Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Juliana Martin (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished one-two in the hammer throw. Dewar tossed the hammer 138 feet (42.07m), while Martin recorded a mark of 134 feet, three inches (40.91m).

Junior Allison Beaudoin (Sturbridge, Mass.) captured top honors in the javelin with a throw of 111 feet, six inches (33.99m). Sophomore Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) added a second-place showing in the discus throw with a distance of 109 feet, four inches (33.33m).

The Bears will complete at the MASCAC Championships hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday, April 27th.
