Andrews Sets School Record, Madden Earns All-New England Honors at NEICAAA Championships

ROXBURY, Mass. – Senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles and junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors in the 5,000-meter run to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team on Friday afternoon at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Andrews finished fifth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.82 seconds as she eclipsed her previous BSU indoor mark of 8.86 seconds set last season at the Division III New England Championships and equaled earlier this year at the Wheaton Invitational. Andrews, who is the only Division III student-athlete competing in the event, also advances to Saturday's semifinal round which is expected to get underway at roughly 10:30 AM.

Andrews currently ranks third in all of Division III in the hurdles.

Madden placed eighth in the 5,000 with a time of 18:43.83 as she was also the top runner among Division III student-athletes. The top eight placewinners in each individual event earn All-New England accolades.

The two-day championship meet continues on Saturday. Senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) will be competing in the shot put as well as Andrews in the semifinals of the hurdles.
