Women's Track & Field Competes at Branwen Smith-King Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University on Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

Senior Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) placed third in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 8.17 seconds. McNamara also posted a semifinal time of 8.15 seconds.

Senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) posted a third-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 39 feet, ten inches (12.14m). Gilbreath also finished eighth in the weight throw (44'4"/13.51m).

Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed fifth in the mile with a career-best time of 5:19.93.

Senior Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 0.75 inches (10.38m).

Junior Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Juliana Martin (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished tenth and 11th, respectively, in the weight throw. Dewar recorded a season-best toss of 43 feet, ten inches (13.36m), while Martin notched a career-best distance of 43 feet, 1.5 inches (13.14m).

Bridgewater State finished 11th in the team standings with 23 points.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the NEICAAA Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
