Andrews, Gilbreath Lead Women's Track & Field at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – Seniors Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) and Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) each posted a first-place finish to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Tufts Invitational held on Saturday at the Gantcher Field House.

Andrews placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.97 seconds. She also finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.80.

Gilbreath captured top honors in the shot put with a season-best mark of 42 feet, 2.75 inches (12.87m). She also placed third in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 46 feet, 7.5 inches (14.21m).

Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a career-best time of 10:36.23.

Senior Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) finished third in the triple jump (32'0.25"/9.76m) and fifth in the long jump (15'7"/4.75m), while Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) placed fourth in both the triple jump (31'7.25"/9.63m) and the long jump (15'7.5"/4.76m).

Senior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) posted a time of 3:20.00 in the 1,000-meter run as she was the fifth runner to cross the line. Sophomore Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) finished fifth in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 41 feet, three inches (12.57m).

The indoor season continues for the BSU track & field teams next weekend as the Bears compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
