Women's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at 7th Annual UMass Boston Open

ROXBURY, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's track & field team opened the indoor season at the non-scoring Seventh Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) captured top honors in the finals of 200-meter dash as she posted a Division III New England Championships qualifying time of 26.51 seconds. Andrews also placed second and qualified for both DIII New Englands and the NEICAA Championships in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.90 seconds.

Senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) placed fourth in both the shot put (38'2"/11.63m) and the weight throw (42'5.5"/12.94m). Gilbreath qualified for DIII New Englands in the shot put.

Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) finished second 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:53.35.

Seniors Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Patricia Healion (Medford, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top ten performers. McNamara placed tenth in the 60-meter dash (8.24), while Healion finished tenth in the high jump (4'11"/1.50m)

Next Saturday, the BSU track & field teams will compete at RIC Invitational.
