BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Kira Gilbreath has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Gilbreath placed first in the shot put at the RIC Invitational this past weekend. The West Haven, Utah product recorded a toss of 42 feet, 11 inches (13.08 meters) as she qualified for the NEICAAA Championships in the event. Gilbreath currently ranks sixth in all of Division III in the shot put.
Gilbreath also qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the weight throw as she placed fifth at the meet with a mark of 45 feet, three inches (13.79 meters).
The BSU women's indoor track & field team is off until Saturday, January 13th when the Bears compete at the Tufts Invitational.
