Jayci Andrews Headed to NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) will be competing in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The championships will be held on Friday, March 9th and Saturday, March 10th at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, with Birmingham Southern College and the Birmingham CrossPlex serving as hosts.

Andrews is seeded eighth in the 60-meter hurdles. She recorded her qualifying and BSU school-record mark of 8.86 seconds at the Division III New England Championships held at Springfield College on February 17th. 

The preliminary race of the 60-meter hurdles is slated to take place on Friday afternoon at 2:45 PM (EST), with the finals scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3:10 PM (EST).

Andrews is making her third appearance at an NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship meet and second at the indoor championships. As a freshman in 2016, she placed 11th in the 400-meter dash at the indoor championships and tenth in the 400 at the outdoor championships.

Andrews currently holds seven individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 60-meter hurdles, 55-meter hurdles (8.50), the long jump (17'6.75"), the 200-meter dash (26.37) and the 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.58) and the 400 (55.76).

For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
