Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University junior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Andrews placed second in the 100-meter hurdles to earn All-American honors at the NCAA DIII Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.14 seconds as she eclipsed her previous mark of 14.27 seconds set earlier this month at the NEICAAA Championships.

Andrews also finished 13th in the 400-meter hurdles at the national championship meet with a preliminary time of 1:03.08.

Andrews is the Bears' fourth All-American since 2013. Samantha Richner tied for eighth place in the high jump at the 2016 outdoor championships, while Molly Rouillard placed seventh in the mile run at the 2013 indoor championships and seventh in the 1,500-meter run at the 2013 outdoor championships.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 19th of Andrews' career including eight outdoor distinctions.

Andrews currently holds eight individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.86), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.14), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37) and 400-meter dash (55.76).
