Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University junior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Andrews broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles last week at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native posted a preliminary time of 14.27 seconds as she eclipsed her previous BSU outdoor mark of 14.28 seconds set earlier this month at the Division III New England Championships. Andrews also recorded a finals time of 14.37 seconds to place second in the event at the meet.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 18th of Andrews' career including seven outdoor distinctions.

Andrews currently holds eight individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.86), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.27), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37) and 400-meter dash (55.76).

Andrews will compete in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles later this week at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She is seeded sixth in the 100 hurdles and 11th in the 400 hurdles.
